My sun exposure is a little high here, but it's still a cute picture of Mia and the neighbor girls & their cousin eating watermelon on a sunny day.

Of note, Mia is the youngest of the bunch and she isn't too far behind in height to these girls who are older. She has always been in the 90-100+ percentile in height. I hope she doesn't stop growing and watch everyone pass her by as happened to me when I was young.

Mia - 8
Emily - 13
Lauren - 11
Amber - 14

Baraboo Photos - part 1

Well, I did it again. I let too much time go between posts. Sorry!

Long Time No Post

Wow, has it really been a month since I last posted here! Well June was pretty crazy for us and this month hasn't been much better. I'll try not to go so long between posts next time!

One of our main events in late June was a mini vacation to Baraboo, Wisconsin. This was our 3rd year to visit, though we skipped last year. On the way up, we stopped in the small town of Amboy IL where Brian had to get some apparel for work. While he got what he needed, the kids and I explored the main street. I just love the quaint downtown area of small towns. We stopped in at the mom & pop pharmacy and they had the old style soda fountain. They also had a candy section with tons of individual candies in small bins. I let the kids pick out a few pieces, then we wandered outside and found a bench to sit on while we waited. While they were munching, I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of the town's charm as well as the kids.

Camp Rocks

Mia just got back from a 3 night/4 day stay at church camp. She loved it! She had some great counselors and met some sweet new friends. Unfortunately the disposable camera we bought for her got left behind so there are no pictures to share. Here's one I took of Mia the night we picked her up. They had an awesome closing program with skits, singing & dancing, & a photo slide show. Once we left, Mia cried off and on most of the night because she was so sad that camp was over. I think part of her emotions were due to the fact that she was so worn out!

Pizza on a Crane

Yes, you read right. We went to The Pizza Machine, home of the World's Largest Pizza, for Mia's end-of-the-year Brownie meeting last week. They deliver 5 foot diameter pizzas to you on a huge crane. It's really pretty cool. The restaurant itself is pretty cool too as they have lots of rough, industrial-style decor and crazy machinery everywhere. What a fun place. Here are a few photos from the night....

Another Brick in the Wall

Mia's final Brownie Scout meeting of the year was held last night at The Pizza Machine in the old Vinegar Hill Mall in town. We love this old building as it's so full of character. The nearby streets are made of cobblestone and there are some great old brick steps leading up to the building. They made a perfect backdrop to take some portraits of the kids with my new Canon 50mm 1.8 lens. Love the artsy look of these shots. I snapped a few photos of Seth alone and then grabbed Mia for a few photos of them together, then Mia was off giggling with her friends. I'll have to take her for her own photo session another time. Check back for some neat photos from The Pizza Machine.
