6th Photo Challenge

I have been tagged with a "fun" challenge. My friend Stacey challenged me with this: Go to where you store your photos on your computer. Go to the SIXTH folder and pick the SIXTH photo. Post that photo on your blog along with a SHORT story about it. Here's the photo I found in that spot:

This is a photo of Mia from December 2004. We had just gotten a kitten (Diesel, who we had to find a new home for when he starting peeing in the house) and I was taking pictures of both of them. This is a shot I got of Mia by herself. Not only am I sad because she's grown so much but also because she lost all those beautiful curls!

I challenge all of you to take this challenge as well. Even if you don't have a blog, it's a fun little trip down memory lane.

Part of the Family

Our kitten Kenai has really adapted well. In the week that we've had him, he has become a part of the family.

He lounges on the couch (though the first photo is a rare photo of him by himself....99% of the time, he's on someone's lap like the 2nd photo!)....

He sleeps (snuggles) with Mia every night at bedtime......

And he even takes a bath with Seth. Well Seth put him in there, but still Kenai didn't freak out. Brian even managed to get a few photos of the event!....

Seth's Photo Shoot

Here's Seth's photo shoot with the new camera. I knew that I wouldn't get him to cooperate and pose for me, so I caught him off guard in the bathtub. The water has been shaded with bath color tablets, not for these photos, it's just a fun thing for the kids.

Mia's Photo Shoot

I wanted to play around with my new camera, so I called Mia in for an impromptu photo shoot. We got a little goofy and here are a few of the cuter shots. We both could use a little more direction and experience....Mia in modeling and me in photography, but we had alot of fun! Stay tuned for pics from Seth's photo shoot.

Welcome Kenai

We broke down and bought a kitten. We have been overrun by mice this winter and the kids have been wanting a cat, so it seemed like a good time to get one. On Friday, Brian and I took Mia to the local Animal Protective League to check them all out. Only one stood out.....a 2-1/2 month old gray kitten named Taurus. He was super friendly and playful and was under feet the whole time. We signed our life over and they told us to come pick him up the next day. He's been here for not quite a day yet and is slowly adjusting. He does fine in the bathroom or a bedroom, but the stimuli of the house (aka Seth, the TV, the dishwasher, etc.) makes him a little skittish. He spent a bit of time under our bed! As I type this, he is running throughout the living room so I think he's starting to get it figured out. Let's hope so....the kids will be crushed if we have to take him back.

Since he didn't really know his name (the APL gave it to him), we took the liberty of renaming him. Here's our little Kenai, named for the gorgeous Alaskan peninsula.

Mia's Party

We had Mia's birthday party at the Capitol Elite All Stars cheer center. The kids did aerobics, tumbing, obstacle courses, and the tumble track (40' long trampolines). They had an absolute blast. We invited 24 kids and 18 showed up. Luckily the place was large enough and well run, so it was really laid back. We basically brought the cake, ice cream, and drinks and they did the rest. After the party, Mia had 4 girls back to our house for pizza and a sleepover. What a fun day/night!

Mia's Birthday

We celebrated Mia's 8th birthday with the neighbors and Mia's godmother/godsister. Here are a couple of shots. Sorry for the bad lighting - my point and shoot camera has a pretty poor flash.
I'll post photos from her birthday party soon.
